White and out

(Summit, NJ)

I work at a bank in NJ, in a very affluent town. All year working as a teller I have not missed one day, been late and even showed up during blizzards when nobody else came. I am polite and go out of my way to be kind to others, including co-workers.

Despite having such a great record, I get no recognition. In fact, I get mostly lower than average reviews. Keep in mind, this bank is very quiet so we do not do everything everyday- obscure procedures are not learned right away- nor does anyone help to guide one in these processes.

We have had a change in management. The new manager seems completely positive and ready to help. However, I found out that the past manager did not even put me in for a raise, whereas the new one informed me today of that; and told me she was trying to get me a raise.

There is no question in my mind that I am being discriminated against via the assistant manager and other assistant, formerly the manager as well.

I don't know how to approach this, I just want to quit, esp. after coming home from vacation. Ugh, anyone in a similar situation or advice, please help.

Be positive
by: Satish Nair

I am working with an MNC in India. Just be positive. just think the people don't have a job, to think about the raise. This situation you can see everywhere, there are two options, one is to leave this is for another second is to be there and wait for some more time.

To be straight - I think, once you make a soul searching, may be there is some negativeness in you as well, lack of self confidence, lack of power in presenting yourself, appearance etc. I seen a lot of people elated to coveted positions without much education/qualification, but with their energy and presentation skills.

Be positive always and think those people they don't have a job to cheer for. I also write often the inspirational article and share with around 200 people on daily basis (most of them about positive attitude).

You may do your self examination for a month and with necessary corrective action, there will be nobody to stop you from getting elated.
