Stress Management Article for the Time Starved
Too stressed to even read a stress management article? Frankly, if you are looking for such an article, it is no wonder you are stressed. Please take some time off (just 5 minutes) to read this article in a non hurried way. Or use this stress management article as an excuse for you to take a break.
Sometimes as a newbie pursuing career success, you are tempted to complete as much as possible to impress your colleagues and bosses. Part of why you are always so stressed is because you spend too much time chasing after things. Running to finish this, rushing to complete that, hurried to wrap that up, etc.
1. Stop. Breath.
Print this stress management article and go off somewhere to read it.
2. Live Now
Truly, live now. The past is gone; the future is yet to come. I know some of you would think, "Hey, that's asking me not to plan? That's like planning for failure." Well, that's not true. Live now does not mean not planning. It means focusing on the here and now. It means giving your best now without thinking of the regret of past mistakes and without the worry for the future. Take care of the now and the future will take care of itself. Live now means being mindful of what you are doing and doing the best possible. Whatever you are doing, do it mindfully. When you are mindful you are not stressed. You focus.
I know no matter what I say, you will still be stressed if you choose to. But if you are still with me, this stress management article promises you tips you can use now.
Prioritize Your To Do List
This is by far the simplest to do. If you are a newbie pursuing career success, chances are you would have a to-do list. It’s all part of being organized and time management. The problem I observed is that many people just have such a long to-do list that it even looks intimidating. Talk about tackling the list! Not all items on that list are urgent. Not all items on that list are important. Prioritize them. Then estimate the time that is needed to complete the tasks.
The biggest mistake newbies pursuing career success make is not to put a realistic estimated time needed to compete a task. At the end of the day they feel unsatisfied they have completed so little and feel stressed. To tackle stress, prioritize your to do list and put a realistic estimated time on each task. You will be more efficient that way and also feel less stressed.
Let’s just cover two tips in this stress management article. After all, I did mention that it is for the time starved. Seriously though, re-read the first tip Live Now. Be mindful of whatever you are doing and not be stressed thinking of ‘what ifs’. Whenever I remind myself of this, I can feel myself relaxing. Do it.
